Pollington

Here I am Rune
Distance 8.2 miles
Total 2817 Locks  130 Tunnels
Running total mileage 4004.8 miles

Yesterday was just a little move on to get back into it, today was a proper move covering over 8 miles and more importantly 7 swing/lift bridges. Fortunately for us today is the day that the oil barge comes through from Rotherham on its way to Hull so there were CRT staff operating the lock and most of the swing bridges, it felt like royalty having all of the work done for us!

At the end of the day’s travelling it was also time to carry out the routing maintenance on the boat so we changed the oil and oil filter and tinkered around with a variety of other stuff that needed checking, the bigger service will be the next one, probably in December, when the air and fuel filters will also need changing along with the gearbox oil. Not very good planning to have the major service in the depths of winter.

Tomorrow, provided that nothing that was serviced today plays up, I would hope to be somewhere around Castleford visitor moorings.

One of the, er, larger boats we come across on these Northern Waters.......

.....safely past.
