Langley Mill

Here I am Rune
Distance 7.6 miles
Total 2559 Locks  122 Tunnels
Running total mileage 3544.7miles

A longer day than is normal for us, over 5 hours, has brought us from Sandiacre to the end of the navigable canal at Langley Mill. The reason for the longer day is to take advantage of pleasant sunny weather since the forecast for tomorrow is dire, and we will probably stay where we are until at least Wednesday. Langley Mill is adjacent to Eastwood which is the birthplace of D.H. Lawrence so we might take the opportunity of a day out to take a ‘Lawrence’ tour of the town.

Once you get to Langley Mill however, mooring does become a bit of an issue. On my map it looked as though there were two areas of 7 day mooring, there are but unfortunately there is only space for 4 boats and one of those spaces has been taken by a CRT maintenance boat. All the rest of the moorings up here seem to be private moorings. We have found somewhere to tie up but it is on the edge of the winding hole and adjacent to the lock. Normally it isn’t somewhere that I’d moor but the adjacent sign identifies it as a 7 day mooring and there are other lock moorings on the other side of the canal so we will just run with it for the time being.
